Leadership challenges and lessons on team management taken from extreme distance ocean rowing with Tom Higham and Clint Evans

Today’s volatile, uncertain and ultra-competitive business environment presents challenges for all us but especially those leading organisations.  In professional services, the immediate challenges include the opportunities and threats from AI and navigating business success within a sustainable and ethical context. Leaders in all businesses need to be open to ideas and lessons from many sources not least their own life experience and the diverse thoughts and contributions of those within their teams. Sometimes seeing the world from another perspective can help and those who have walked, or even rowed, a different path have insights that help find that other perspective.

Tom Higham and Clint Evans have both taken small teams rowing over 3,000 miles across the mid-Pacific and Atlantic. Aside from the sheer physical effort required to achieve these feats, they drew lessons in leading individuals in extreme and remote situations which they now apply to their business lives.
