Supporting our leaders in navigating turbulence
Behind the turbulence of the past few years and overlapping polycrises there has been one inevitability, that firms – and their people – will undergo sustained change and transformation.
When we see change happen, we often see indicators of colleague experience slightly dip, especially advocacy for recommending the firm as a great place to work.
So how do leaders lead through this phase? Critically, they must take a data-driven approach to understand the signals from their business – what behaviours are essential to dial-up and how best to support and engage with colleagues.
Authenticity, transparency and clear direction have always been key – but increasingly dashboards that indicate what culture is experienced daily are becoming important.
Leadership teams continue to see measuring culture as important and as part of their responsibility for the long-term health of the organisation and part of doing effective business.
In short, leaders must become more proactive in their approach to measure and understand culture, enabling them to participate in influencing culture in the context of business performance and strategy, as well as intervening in the areas that matter most for their people during a period of change.
